We are very proud of our Global and Indigenous Studies program as it encompasses local Indigenous language and culture while aiming to celebrate the heritage of all of our students through global learning and perspectives.
We listen to stories of the past and invest in the future of our local Indigenous heritage by working alongside Elders to practice and celebrate our local Peek Whurrong language and culture, encouraging cultural safety, identity and engagement. We also take a global outlook, bringing wonderful world culture and language into our classrooms.
These lessons take many forms- from special guest visits, incursions and excursions to local cultural sites, cooking, project work and many other classroom activities. The F-6 global studies curriculum also tackles age appropriate topics that often divide societies such as diversity and racism, learning together how respect, empathy and understanding difference can create safe and inclusive spaces for our students at school and people everywhere.
